As a child you were “Uncle Johnny”, but as I became an adult you were “The Great Debater”. You were the first person I’d ever encountered who spoke so passionately about world politics with no desire to be an actual politician. I will never forget the day you sat in your verandah and admitted that Mia Mottley had more leadership skills than most of her peers and that she should lead her party—a pivotal moment for me as a young lady because it unintentionally validated my own personal ambitions.


Your jovial smile and laughter will be missed, but memories of you will certainly be cherished. Praying that God shows up as the comforter I know Him to be for Aunty…
